Match Review MD17 Malaysia Super League 2025/26 | Terengganu FC 1-1 Selangor FC | Points Shared at SMZB Stadium

Selangor FC were held to a 1-1 draw against Terengganu FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak, yesterday in match day 17 of the 2025/26 Malaysia Super League.

Terengganu FC enjoyed greater control in the opening stages, playing with high intensity and creating the more dangerous chances before taking the lead through Ekhson Pandzhshanbe in the 42nd minute. The second half saw a clear shift in momentum as Selangor FC returned with greater energy and discipline, gradually asserting control and applying sustained pressure. The Red Giants’ efforts were rewarded in the 57th minute when Faisal Halim equalised, changing the complexion of the match. However, Selangor FC were later reduced to ten men following Hugo Boumous’ red card late in the game. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Red Giants showed strong fighting spirit and defensive organisation to hold on for a valuable point until the final whistle.

Selangor FC Head Coach Kim Pan-gon acknowledged the difficulty of the contest but expressed pride in his players’ second-half performance.

“We went through a very tough match. Terengganu FC started better, playing aggressively and physically, and we struggled to find goals in the first half. However, after the restart, the team’s performance improved significantly. The players showed great fighting spirit and commitment, and even after going down to ten men, they continued to battle and create chances. Although we could not secure the win and had to settle for a draw, I am proud of the team’s effort. There are still many areas to improve, but the players’ fighting spirit was clearly evident in yesterday’s #TERSFC match,” said Kim Pan-gon.

Despite the draw, Selangor FC moved up to second place in the 2025/26 Malaysia Super League standings with 32 points from 16 matches, recording 10 wins, two draws and four defeats, while scoring 34 goals.

Next, Selangor FC will face BG Pathum United FC in Matchday Five of the ACC Shopee Cup™ at MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, with kick-off scheduled for 8:30pm. This decisive fixture will determine qualification for the semi-finals of the 2025/26 competition. Red Giants supporters are urged to pack the stadium and raise their voices in support. Tickets are available here.

Selangor FC management hopes the team will continue to respond positively and deliver consistent performances for the upcoming matches. Keep fighting, Red and Yellow!
